Love the One You're With (That's You)

Confession: I have a love-hate relationship with Valentine’s Day.

💛 In elementary school I always loved decorating our Valentine’s Day “mailboxes” and picking out the perfect valentine for everyone in my class.

💜In middle school I remember meticulously putting my hair in to top buns (age me much?) and artfully decorating them with Bobby pins I had glued conversation hearts to.

💗In high school I remember passing out Power Ranger and farm animal valentines to my friends in the hallway- because of what says “you’re one of my people” like a folded piece of card stock valentine created for seven-year-olds?

❌And in college- I wore black.

Maybe it’s the commercials this time of year about buying diamonds and cars and fancy things for the person you love; but sometime around college I became anti-Valentine’s Day.

And then a couple years ago I was introduced to Galentine’s Day and I fell back in love with the idea of a holiday to celebrate love. But instead of only celebrating romantic love (the way most marketing campaigns do), I realized Valentine’s Day could be a holiday where we can celebrate ALL kinds of love.

Love for our friends, love for our families, love for our environment, (yes) love for our partners, and (perhaps the hardest of all) love for ourselves.

That’s right, I said it. Love for yourself.

When was the last time you did something kind for YOURSELF lately? When was the last time you gave YOURSELF a gift?

And it doesn’t have to be big! Sure, it could be a new workout outfit or investing in a way to improve your home fitness situation, but it could also be carving out an hour or two to cuddle up with a cup of tea and a book, or soak in warm tub. Okay, these are obviously my “treat yourself” examples- but you get the point!

Love yourself. You are so incredibly worth it.

Xoxo

Need some ideas on how to love on yourself this month? Here are a few to get you started!

INVEST IN YOURSELF. I love February people. For some reason February stick to their commitments and reach their goals faster. So from now until the end of February 2021 new Online Clients can get 21 days of one on one online personal training for $99. (Contact me for more information!)

FEEL GOOD IN YOUR CLOTHES! I’m super picky about athletic clothes, but one of the perks I get as a trainer is occasional hook-ups with some of my favorite brands that I get to share with YOU! When I get those hook-ups, I share them to my email insiders first, so make sure you’re signed up!

LOVE YOURSELF. Check out these quotes for inspiration to love yourself- no matter what.

Remember SELF-CARE IS NOT SELFISH.
