Stocking Stuffers for the Aspiring Foodie
/2020 has been weird. Am I right?
Between a pandemic, crazy politics, social upheaval and (for me) a new baby this year has been the longest/shortest year ever.
Like, I’m not sure if it’s still April or if we’re currently on our fifth round of October.
Weird.
So if you’re anything like me, you normally have all your holiday gifts picked out and mostly purchased by (the first round of) October. I mean, I’m a pretty good gift giver, and I enjoy doing it. So it’s easy for me to get not only the “main” gifts, but also stocking stuffers taken care of in advance.
Not this year.
This year I am on the struggle bus. Maybe because it just doesn’t feel like the Holiday Season this year. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen anyone all year, so those spur of the moment ideas haven’t popped up the way they normally do. Or maybe it’s because 2020 is just weird.
Either way, as I’m sitting here brainstorming small gift and stocking stuffer ideas for the adults in my life, I thought I’d share some ideas that can help you check off the chef or nutrition enthusiast on your list!
Some of these links may be affiliate links. Which means if you click on them and buy something, I might be compensated a little at no cost to you. However- I’d never share something unless I loved (or wanted!) it myself.
Something Simple
1. Long Handled Tablespoons- If someone you know doesn’t have extra tablespoons, buy these for them. Seriously. This is a no brainer gift for anyone who does a lot of cooking (or baking) at home. I always recommend having two sets of measuring spoons and cups, because it makes meal prepping SO MUCH EASIER. But even with two sets of spoons, I always found myself washing the tablespoons multiple times. Enter these tablespoons. I already have two sets (so four extra spoons), and I’m seriously considering buying another. Even if you aren’t baking, these spoons are perfect for everything from measuring out your nut butters to your creamers and everything in between. An awesome gift for the cook or fitness fanatic alike!
2. Glass Markers- These are awesome! It’s no secret that my husband and I are baby wineos. Not only do we enjoy a good bottle of wine, but we love learning about wine as well. These markers are great not only to keep track of whose glass is who, but- if we’re being super fancy and tasting wines (or beverage of your choice) back to back you can mark which wine is which! These will REALLY get some use once the world reopens if you have lots of people over and therefor lots of glasses floating around the house.
3. Small Measuring Glass- I was given one of these at my bridal shower, and was skeptical if I’d ever use it. However, it’s come in handy more times than I would have ever guessed. A small measuring glass is perfect for measuring out small amounts of liquids for foods, beverages, and even craft projects (yeah, go figure!)
4. A Good Scraper- I know it sounds silly, but having a REALLY good quality scraper is the stuff dreams are made of. And Pampered Chef makes the best. At least the best I’ve ever tried- and I’ve tried a lot of them. My mom’s PC scrapers lasted forever. The scrapers I got when I was out on my own? Not so much… until I finally got myself of Pampered Chef scrapers. No, I don’t sell PC, but I do love it. It’s good stuff, friend.
5. Beeswax Wrap- Because #theplanet. But seriously- I’ve been dying to try this stuff out. I’ve heard good things. If you’re shopping for me… hint hint. (Otherwise, I’ll update this when I’ve actually had the change to try it out!)
Something Tasty
6. Oils and Vinegars- Unique oil and vinegar collections are always a fun gift! You may have a local place that does “fancy” oils, vinegars, salts, and spices… and if so- go check them out! Oils and vinegars (as well as salts and spices!) are always a fun thing for the aspiring chef to play with. Especially for someone who doesn’t “splurge” on unnecessary items. Bonus! You may get to enjoy the delicious aftereffects of the experimentation!
7. Actually… all the collections! What does your foodie like? You can find awesome sets and samplers of all sorts these days! Check out a kitchen store, or just head on over to Trader Joe’s to find collections of everything from maple syrup, to spices, to teas, to jams and jellies, to hot sauce… you name it- there’s probably a collection! Collections of things your chef or foodie enjoys is always a fun way to show them you pay attention to what they like, and let them experiment with things they may not buy for themselves.
Something Pretty
8. Teak Serving Set- Because they are pretty. And there’s something just decadent about serving with gorgeous teak utensils. (Heart Eyes)
9. Salt Cellar- Okay, this isn’t for everyone. But if your foodie friend DOES like playing with salts and spices, a pretty way to store them is always nice.
The Splurge?
10. A Club Membership- What does your foodie/chef enjoy? Coffee? Wine? Tea? Cocktails? Cheese? Hot sauce? There’s a club for all of these thing and more. Choose however many months you want to gift and you’re set. And who knows, you may get the opportunity to enjoy some of these monthly goodies yourself!
So there you go. A few gift ideas for anyone who spends time in the kitchen. Do you have any favorite kitchen gift ideas? Share them in the comments!
Happy Holidays!
