Homemade Natural Bath Bombs
/It’s February, and you know what that means? Galentine’s Day. The perfect excuse to treat yourself and the people you love. That being said, do you honestly, do you even need an excuse to treat yourself and your friends? I didn’t think so.
One of the things I love about the ladies I’ve spent Galentine’s Day with is their habit of bringing little gifts to share with everyone. They’re nothing big, and often homemade, but they have a special place in my heart (and on my fridge, in my desk, etc.).
Need an idea? How about making homemade bath bombs? These bombs are, well, to use a 90s phrase… the bomb. Especially during the winter. Since they’re made with coconut oil they are not only an enjoyable part of a hot bath, but they leave your skin super moisturized (just be careful, they may leave your tub slick!). They are a bit messy to make, but super easy. You can totally do this.
Oh, and for all you bath-haters out there. I say with the most love possible- Get over it. Take a shower at the end of your bath, and you’ll feel clean and enjoy your bath. Problem solved. You’re welcome.
Homemade Bath Bombs
1 cup citric acid (yes, I buy it on Amazon)
1 cup baking soda
½ cup cornstarch
½ cup melted coconut oil
8-10 drops of essential oil(s) (I like lavender, but you can use any oil or combo that you enjoy)
Silicone molds (I use ones like this because they work in baking as well, but you could use any shape you want)
Mix all dry ingredients in medium sized bowl and set aside (citric acid, baking soda, and cornstarch)
In a separate container, combine your oils. PRO TIP- Use a glass measuring cup to melt your coconut oil, then combine your essential oil(s) right in the cup.
Slowly add the oils to the dry ingredients while stirring. (Take your time so the oil doesn’t react with the citric acid as you pour)
Using your hands, mix everything together until you have a “damp sandy” texture.
Pack mixture into your molds tightly and set aside for 24 hours to dry.
Enjoy your homemade bath bombs yourself, and/or share them with friends!
I’ve made a double batch of these before, but it’s tricky and kind of a pain. Doable, but a pain. If you want to package them up as a gift, party treat bags are perfect. Add a little “love note” and you’re set! (I included some below in case you need ideas)
Whether it’s with these bath bombs or it’s some other way. Make sure to take some time for yourself this week to take care of you. Because you’re worth it.
How do you take care of yourself? Please share your ideas below!
