Book Reports and My Library

A couple years ago I found myself mid-December not having read a single book that wasn’t somehow related to the health and wellness industry. Don’t get me wrong, I love to read, and I have a HUGE list of non-fiction books that I can’t wait to read, but I also love fiction. I love intriguing stories, and fluff, and Harry Potter.

So I joined a book club. I spent the year reading book club picks and re-reading all the chronological Valdemar series books by Mercedes Lackey and letting the health and wellness books I wanted to read pile up. And pile they did.

Ugh! So many books, so little time!

If you’re a book lover, I know you can relate. And if you’re into living your healthiest and best life (which obviously you are, because you’re here reading this), there are SO MANY BOOKS out there.  How do you choose which ones to read first?

Which got me thinking. I wish there was someone I trusted who could give me a good overview of the books I’m interested in reading. That way, I know which ones are worth my time and which ones aren’t. And which books I should prioritize.

Which made me realize… I could be that person! At least for someone. So if that someone is you, yay! From now on, as I read books that you have heard about (or not) that has anything to do with your wellness and what we talk about here at The FRICKin Good Life, I’m going to give you a review. I’ll be honest, I feel a little like I’m going back to school again and I need to put my name in the upper right hand corner, but I’ll get over it for you.

I’ll start with the book I’ve most recently read, but I plan on going back and writing reviews on other books that I’ve loved and recommended as well.

And GET THIS! Once my office is back up and running again (this house renovation has been testing my patience in all kinds of ways), I’ll be creating a pseudo-Library for my clients that are here in the St. Louis area! Yup, I love you so much that you can borrow my books (just be nice to them please!). Yes, I know I mentioned it before, but I’m really excited about it. Of course if you’re not in STL (or even if you are!), your library may have a copy of these books either physically or digitally. However, as I have come to learn not every single book in the world is in the library (I know, shocking), which is why I’m looking forward to creating access for my clients to my books.

I hope that this will help you save time (and money!) by prioritizing the non-fiction books you choose to consume. It’s also my hope that this will help free up time for you to take care of yourself by reading some fun, new books. Or just re-read Harry Potter. That’s okay too.

Next week I’ll be turning in my very first book report on Beyond the Pill by Dr. Jolene Brighten. It’s been a while, so don’t grade me too harshly.
